The Green Space
USER CENTRED DESIGN // CREATIVE CONSCIENCE WINNER 2016
Providing a sense of independence for people with dementia is an incredibly important component in maintaining quality of life. The multi-functional Green Space offers this to residents. The garden is a journey for them to undertake, as well as providing a new communal area for residents to explore, reminisce, and relax.
The space also serves as a form of sensory stimulation therapy through the incorporation of a wayfinding system which guides residents through areas focused on and highlighting each of the five senses. We also created a series of recipe cards that guide residents through the garden on a journey to collect fruits and vegetables from the different areas.
